Akpabio’s wife sues Natasha Akpoti, demands N250bn as damages over alleged defamation

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has advised Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to stay out of the controversy surrounding allegations against her husband. Akpoti-Uduaghan recently accused the Senate President of making sexual advances toward her at his office and residence in Akwa Ibom, claims Ekaette dismissed as “lies” while defending her husband’s character.
In response to Ekaette Akpabio’s defamation suit, Akpoti-Uduaghan, through her lawyer Victor Giwa, sent a letter dated March 1, urging her to refrain from involving herself in the issue. The senator emphasized that her allegations were personal against the Senate President and that he was capable of defending himself. She also revealed that she had endured harassment from him for a long time before deciding to speak out.
The letter further warned Ekaette Akpabio to focus on her well-being rather than getting entangled in the matter. Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that she possessed concrete evidence to back her claims and stressed that the legal battle should be between her and the Senate President alone.
With tensions rising, the scandal has sparked debates within political circles, with calls for an independent investigation. As the controversy unfolds, all eyes remain on the Senate President’s next move and whether he will address the allegations directly.
