A late-night blaze engulfed the 11th floor of “The Ultimate Apartments,” a high-rise luxury building in Ikoyi, Lagos, sparking panic among residents and prompting a swift response from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). The fire, which broke out around 10:16 PM on Friday, was quickly contained, with no casualties or injuries reported.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, revealed that the agency activated multiple response teams from its Lekki, Onipan, and Alausa Command Centres following distress calls via the 767 and 112 emergency hotlines. The fire, originating from a single room on the 11th floor, was extinguished before spreading further.

While combating the flames, emergency teams educated residents on the dangers of smoke inhalation during fire incidents, ensuring the safety of all occupants. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, the inferno was successfully extinguished, and damping down operations were completed.

This incident underscores the importance of rapid emergency response systems and fire safety awareness in high-rise buildings, highlighting LASEMA’s critical role in safeguarding lives and property in Lagos.
