Ogun State govt empowers 150 persons with disabilities
As part of the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, themed “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” the state distributed critical tools such as deep freezers, grinding machines, generators, braille machines, walking sticks, and wheelchairs to beneficiaries.
Adijat Adeleye, Commissioner for Women Affairs, emphasized that the initiative reflects Governor Dapo Abiodun’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and equity. “This administration is resolute in prioritizing the needs of persons with disabilities and ensuring their active participation in society,” she remarked.
Permanent Secretary Adejumoke Adewole encouraged PWDs to embrace self-development and technology, equipping themselves with the skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced world.
Dr. Kunle Ashimi, former NMA Chairman, urged PWDs to embrace leadership roles, emphasizing that intelligence and vision define leadership—not physical appearance.
