A businessman from Onitsha, Chikwado Eze, tragically died during a ritual at Inyi, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, where he was buried alive as part of a spiritual fortification for his business. Eze, who had recently secured a visa for international business, sought the services of a native doctor who insisted on the burial as a key part of the ritual to guarantee success.

Eze, along with his father, Uwakwe, went to the native doctor’s shrine, where he was lowered into a grave and covered with earth for one and a half hours. However, when exhumed, he was found weak and sweating profusely. The native doctor attempted to revive him with incantations, but Eze’s condition worsened, leading to an emergency trip to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident has shocked the local community, and both the native doctor and Eze’s father have been arrested by the police for further investigation. Eze’s father, who had previously been ostracized by the community for his involvement in harmful charms, denied forcing his son into the ritual, claiming his son had organized everything himself.

As the investigation unfolds, the tragic death has raised concerns about the dangers of ritual practices in the region, leaving the community in grief and disbelief over the loss of a promising businessman.
