A video showing a parent, Mr. Ayofe, violently assaulting a female staff member at Rosebud Secondary School, Idimu, Lagos, has ignited widespread outrage. The incident, which occurred while Mr. Ayofe came to pick up his child, escalated when he attacked sanitation officer Paul Agnes after being told his son was already downstairs. The altercation was captured on video by a teacher, Elizabeth Orgi, and has since gone viral.

Eyewitnesses reported that Mr. Ayofe became aggressive upon his arrival, forcing his way into the school and assaulting Agnes, despite her calm attempts to provide him with information about his son’s location. The attack extended to another teacher who tried to intervene, leaving staff and students in shock. “He pushed tables and attacked the sanitation officer without warning,” Orgi explained, noting how she too was nearly attacked while filming the incident.

The situation took a disturbing turn when it was revealed that Mr. Ayofe’s wife, allegedly a police officer, detained Orgi for sharing the video. This revelation has intensified public anger, with many criticizing the abuse of power and demanding accountability for the unlawful detention of the teacher. Orgi has since described her experience as traumatic, highlighting the need for protection for whistleblowers.

In response, the Lagos State Government has launched an official investigation into the assault, with officials from the Ministry of Education assuring that legal action will be taken. However, the Lagos State Police has come under fire for inaction, as they have yet to begin any probe without an official complaint from the victims. The viral video has sparked widespread calls for justice, with many Nigerians demanding swift consequences for the violent attack within the school grounds.
