A tragic tanker explosion in Majia, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State has claimed the life of 25-year-old Nura Suleiman, just days before his wedding. Nura, who had been engaged and was set to marry soon, was one of the many victims caught in the deadly incident. His father, Suleiman Sani, shared his grief and disbelief, describing how his son, known for rarely staying out late, was drawn to the scene on that fateful night.

According to Sani, Nura had never been one to roam late at night, making his presence at the site of the explosion particularly shocking. “It was as if destiny called him,” the bereaved father recounted. “He wouldn’t normally leave the house after 10 pm, but that night, fate had other plans.” The family searched for hours before discovering his lifeless body at dawn.

The tanker, carrying petrol, reportedly fell around 11:30 pm, sparking a massive fire that consumed many in its wake. As rescue efforts were underway, dozens were rushed to hospitals across Jigawa and neighboring states. The death toll has now surpassed 170, with over 70 individuals currently receiving treatment in hospitals in Dutse, Birnin Kudu, and beyond.

The explosion has left a devastating mark on the community, with many families mourning their loved ones. Authorities are continuing investigations into the cause of the tanker accident, but for Sani and his family, the pain of losing a son on the verge of his wedding day is immeasurable.
