Why I am not married at 54 – Nollywood Star Bimbo Akintola Opens Up

Popular Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has revealed the heartbreaking reason she remains unmarried at 54. In a candid interview with her colleague Emmanuel Ehumadu, Akintola disclosed that her soulmate passed away, leaving her unwilling to settle for a marriage without deep, lasting commitment.

“He died… I don’t talk about it, but he died,” the actress revealed. “It took me a very long time to find him, and now he’s gone. I can’t imagine getting married just for the sake of it. If you’re not going to be true to your vows, why bother? The one person I could do forever with is no longer here.”

Akintola expressed her belief in the sanctity of marriage and the difficulty of finding true love again. While she acknowledged the possibility of loving more than once in a lifetime, she said it would take another “forever person” for her to remarry, regardless of age. “If I ever find someone I can spend the rest of my life with, I’ll marry him, even if I’m 82,” she stated.

The award-winning actress, who made her debut in the 1995 film Owo Blow, has had a stellar career, earning a 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Despite her personal loss, Akintola continues to shine on screen while staying true to her principles off-screen.
