3 die in Sagamu-Ogijo road, Ogun truck crash

Three people, including a young couple, were tragically killed in a fatal crash on Sunday near the Lafarge Company along the Sagamu-Ogijo road in Ogun State. The crash involved a Foton truck, a space wagon, and a Bajaj motorcycle, leaving the community in shock. The victims, identified as Moses Ekpolo, his 19-year-old wife, Josephine, and one Kolawole Moshood, were pronounced dead after being rushed to Idera Private Hospital.
According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command, the truck driver allegedly lost control, colliding with the motorcycle from behind and causing it to hit the space wagon simultaneously. The force of the collision resulted in severe injuries to the motorcycle’s riders and Moshood, a passenger in the space wagon. Efforts to save them at the hospital were unsuccessful.
SP Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and revealed that the driver of the truck remains unidentified. She expressed deep concern over the reckless driving, which ultimately led to the loss of three lives. The police are currently investigating the matter to determine the full details surrounding the crash.
In light of the tragedy, Odutola urged road users to exercise caution, particularly around heavy-duty vehicles, and to maintain a safe distance. She emphasized the need for articulated truck drivers to adhere strictly to safety measures, reminding all drivers that such negligence can lead to irreversible consequences.
