Police in Kaduna State have arrested Basira Hussaini and her lover, Sebio Samuel, for allegedly kidnapping a six-week-old infant in a desperate bid to deceive the boyfriend into thinking he was a father. The dramatic twist unfolded in the Kujama area of Chikun Local Government Area, where the baby was snatched right from his grandmother’s home.

Basira, who is a close friend of the infant’s grandmother, confessed to taking the baby, revealing her shocking motive: to trick her boyfriend into believing the child was theirs, as the couple had been struggling to conceive. “I didn’t take the child to harm him; I only wanted to make my boyfriend believe the baby was his,” Basira confessed.

During the nine days with the baby, Basira attempted to breastfeed the infant, despite not being able to produce milk, while Samuel provided money for formula, though he harbored doubts about the child’s true origins. “I suspected she was lying because I never saw her pregnant,” Samuel admitted, pleading for leniency.

Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspects are in custody and will face charges in court once investigations are concluded. The case has sparked outrage and highlights the lengths some are willing to go to fulfill personal desires, even at the expense of innocent lives.
