The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that two people are missing after a passenger boat tragically capsized in the Zindiwa River, Gamawa Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning, left the community in shock as rescue efforts continue.

Three passengers were pulled to safety, but hopes are dwindling for the missing individuals. According to Police Public Relations Officer Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, the boat had become a crucial lifeline for residents after severe flooding washed away the main road connecting Gamawa to nearby villages.

With the road destroyed, locals have been forced to use boats as their primary mode of transport, especially on market days. The unfortunate accident has highlighted the precarious situation faced by residents, who are left with no safe alternative for travel.

Authorities are urging caution as search and rescue operations continue, while the community calls for urgent intervention to restore the damaged road and prevent further tragedies.
