The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals is gearing up for the much-anticipated launch of its premium motor spirit (PMS) product, commonly known as petrol. This exciting news was shared by Mr. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil & Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, during a tour of the refinery complex by top engineering bodies in Nigeria, including the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE), the Association of Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN), and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

The engineering delegation lauded Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, for his commitment to nurturing local talent, highlighting the highly-skilled Nigerian engineers who guided the tour. Margaret Oguntala, the first female President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, described the facility as “mind-blowing,” likening it to something straight out of a movie. She expressed confidence in the future of Nigerian engineering, stating, “What I see here today gives me hope that young Nigerian engineers are ready to take on the world.”

Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Azikwe Peter Onwualu of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering noted the significance of the refinery’s achievements, urging Dangote to stay the course amid criticism. “If you weren’t doing something great, you wouldn’t be criticized,” he said, adding that the project stands as a beacon of progress in Nigeria.
