Dispatch rider crushed to death, 2 others injured in Lagos accident

A devastating accident occurred on Friday afternoon along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, near Chevron, leaving a dispatch rider dead and two others seriously injured. The crash, which happened around 2 PM, involved a high-capacity ‘T&M’ bus that lost control due to brake failure while speeding. The bus, with registration number AKD 952 XZ, slammed into an oncoming ‘KIA RIO’ vehicle, BDG 853 DA, forcing it into a dispatch motorcycle, KTU 695 QK. The collision resulted in the tragic death of the dispatch rider on the spot.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), rushed to the scene alongside good Samaritans to rescue the two seriously injured victims, who were promptly taken to a nearby hospital. The incident was secured by officers from Ajiwe and Ilasan Police Stations.
LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists, particularly bus drivers, to regularly check their vehicles’ braking systems to prevent such tragic occurrences.
