‘It’s false’ – GTB disprove hackers seizing website, customers’ data
Nigeria’s leading commercial bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), has firmly dismissed reports claiming that its website was compromised by hackers. Speaking exclusively to DAILY POST, a high-ranking GTBank executive, who requested anonymity, assured customers that the claims of a data breach were entirely unfounded.
The clarification comes in response to circulating rumors alleging that the bank’s website had fallen victim to a massive phishing attack, putting customers’ data at risk. However, the GTBank official was quick to dispel these fears, emphasizing that there was no hacking involved.
“It’s completely false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue, and it has nothing to do with the alleged hacking,” the source confirmed to DAILY POST.
GTBank’s statement aims to reassure customers that their information remains secure, urging them to disregard the false claims and remain confident in the bank’s robust security measures. The bank is currently working to resolve the connectivity issue and restore full access to its online services.
