The Edo State Government has issued a stern warning to #EndBadGovernance protesters obstructing major roads and extorting motorists, directing security agencies to arrest anyone disrupting public peace.

In a statement released on Sunday, Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare, emphasized that those apprehended will face the full weight of the law.

“We would like to sound a note of warning to hoodlums and criminals who would want to take advantage of the protest to cause mayhem, that security forces have been mandated to apprehend and arrest anyone caught disrupting public peace or perpetrating crime of any kind,” Nehikhare declared. “We have received information that some persons have taken to blocking major roads, obstructing vehicular traffic and extorting motorists. Security personnel have been mandated to round up all those involved in such criminal activities as they would be made to face the full weight of the law.”

While condemning the unlawful actions of a few, the state government praised the majority of protesters for their peaceful conduct. Nehikhare acknowledged the responsible behavior exhibited by demonstrators over the past four days, highlighting their cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to maintain law and order.

He assured law-abiding citizens that they can go about their daily activities without fear, as the government remains committed to ensuring the growth and progress of Edo State.
