The Wigwe University community is in shock and mourning following the mysterious death of its Registrar, Ms. Ulonna Inyama, in Abuja. Her death has sparked widespread concerns about medical negligence and hospital safety in Nigeria.

According to a family source, Ms. Inyama succumbed to complications from fibroid surgery, exacerbated by a wrong blood transfusion. Initially admitted to a hospital in Abuja for fibroid treatment, she suffered a fatal reaction after receiving the incorrect blood type.

“She died of loss of blood due to fibroid complications under mysterious circumstances. We were told that a wrong blood transfusion led to her death,” a family member revealed to Vanguard. “When her condition worsened due to complications, she was referred to another hospital, where she passed on.”

The incident has raised urgent questions about the quality of medical care and safety protocols in Nigerian hospitals. Ms. Inyama’s family has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.

This tragedy comes just months after the devastating loss of Wigwe University’s founder, Herbert Wigwe, who perished in a helicopter crash in California, USA, along with his wife and son. The university community, still reeling from the founder’s loss, now faces another heartbreaking blow with the passing of its Registrar.

Ms. Inyama’s death has intensified on the critical need for improved medical standards and accountability in the country’s healthcare system.
