Video: Tinubu’s daughter begs Lagos market women to prevent children from joining protests
In a fervent appeal, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu and Iyaloja General of Lagos State, has urged market women to keep their children away from the planned August 1 hunger protest. Speaking in a viral video on Sunday, Tinubu-Ojo emphasized the importance of supporting the Lagos State Government and giving the Federal Government, led by her father, time to deliver on its promises.
Addressing the market women in Yoruba, she warned against the dangers of participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest, citing the destruction caused by previous demonstrations. “Let’s talk to ourselves, our children, and our families that there is nothing like protesting in Lagos; it is just a ploy to destroy the country,” she said. “Let’s not allow our children to participate.”
Switching to English, Tinubu-Ojo praised the Lagos State Government’s efforts, stating, “There is nothing like protest in Lagos State because the government of Lagos State is making us proud. They are making us happy; they give us a sense of belonging. The government at the center just assumed office. Before you say a government is not doing well, let it last three years, at least.”
She concluded with a plea for vigilance: “Prevention is better than treatment. We will not suffer the loss of lives. Let everyone warn her children.”
In response to the upcoming protests fueled by economic hardship and rising food prices, Tinubu-Ojo has engaged with religious leaders, traditional rulers, governors, and security agencies to dissuade citizens from participating, seeking to maintain peace and stability in the state.
