Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially informed the Oyo House of Assembly of his upcoming annual leave. The governor’s letter, read by Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin during Thursday’s valedictory plenary in honor of retiring clerk Yetunde Awe, stated his leave will commence on August 5 and end on September 6.

In the letter, Governor Makinde announced that Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal would assume executive powers and serve as acting governor during his absence. “Based on Section 190 sub-section 1, I hereby transmit that during the period indicated above, Deputy Governor Lawal shall be the acting governor. I shall be back from the vacation on September 7,” Makinde said.

In the same session, the parliament swore in Taiwo Muraina-Akinola, formerly the deputy clerk, as the new clerk of the house, replacing the retiring Ms. Awe. Muraina-Akinola’s appointment followed her recommendation by the House of Assembly Commission.
