Northern politicians’ visit to Buhari plot to unseat Tinubu in 2027, says Sani

A minister in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet has accused former President Muhammadu Buhari of misusing a $100 million World Bank loan meant for women empowerment on meetings and consultancy. Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, highlighted the mismanagement during an interview with Arise News, emphasizing the importance of proper fund allocation to ensure repayment.
Simultaneously, Senator Shehu Sani has raised alarms over recent visits by prominent Northern politicians to Buhari in Daura, labeling them as covert efforts to unseat Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Sani contends that these visits, under the guise of Sallah homage, are strategic moves to rally Northern political forces against Tinubu, using Buhari’s influence.
High-profile figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, and Ali Modu Sheriff have fueled speculation of a cross-party alliance aimed at the next general election. Sani, however, urged Northerners to reject this plot, criticizing the obsession with power and warning against reigniting regional sentiments for political gain.
These developments underscore the complex political dynamics and challenges facing Nigeria’s leadership as the country navigates economic and social hurdles.
