Emmanuel Chukwuma, 47, known as “Oliver” on the streets of Festac, Lagos, has been arrested for the brutal stabbing of his girlfriend, Bosede Adefehinti, 45, on 7th Avenue. The incident occurred yesterday around 2:30 pm, leaving the community in disbelief.
Eyewitnesses reported that the couple, who were not married but lived together, had a tumultuous relationship marred by frequent disputes. The tension reached its peak when Oliver, reportedly fueled by jealousy and an inferiority complex due to his jobless state, attacked Bosede.
“Oliver helps his girlfriend sell herbal medicines, known as Agbo, and often faced ridicule from customers,” a neighbor recounted. “Yesterday’s argument escalated beyond anything we’ve seen before.”
After the fatal stabbing, Oliver attempted to take his own life by jumping into a well, but neighbors intervened and called the police. Lagos State Police Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that detectives swiftly responded to the distress call, arrested Oliver, and secured the scene while waiting for health officials to evacuate the body.
The case has now been transferred to the Homicide section at Panti for further investigation. This tragic event has left the community in mourning and raised concerns about domestic violence and mental health awareness.
