Murder at Abuja Mechanic: Police arrest soldier, begin investigation



Abuja—In a shocking incident on Thursday, a soldier allegedly stabbed and killed an automobile electrician, sparking a crisis at Kugbo Mechanic Village along the Keffi-Abuja road. The police have swiftly arrested the suspect, confirming the incident and initiating a thorough investigation.

The FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, detailed the events: “On 20th June 2024 at about 4 pm, a tragic incident occurred involving a mechanic and four others currently at large, including one Tijani Uzairu who brought in a vehicle for repairs. An argument ensued, leading to the fatal stabbing of Chukwu Chukwudi by one of the suspects.”

Police operatives from Karu Division promptly responded, arresting Uzairu at the scene while the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has mandated a discreet investigation and assured the public that normalcy has been restored.

CP Igweh also urged the public to shun violence, emphasizing the severe and regrettable consequences of such actions. The tragic event has left the Kugbo community in shock, underscoring the urgent need for peace and restraint in conflict situations.
