How Sanusi Was Reinstated As Emir of Kano – Kwankwaso

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former governor of Kano State, has indicated that the new administration under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will revisit the dethronement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and the subsequent division of the Kano Emirate into five councils.

Kwankwaso, in recent statements, suggested that these actions taken by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje were done with bad intentions and would be reviewed to correct any perceived wrongs

The decision to revisit these actions comes after the Supreme Court upheld the NNPP’s victory in Kano, leading to increased discussions about reinstating Sanusi.

Kwankwaso emphasized that while he has not yet been formally consulted on the matter, the government will examine the situation comprehensively to determine the appropriate course of action

Ganduje’s administration had not only dethroned Sanusi but also created additional emirates, which many viewed as a move to diminish Sanusi’s influence. The NNPP’s current stance suggests a potential reversal of these changes, aligning with their criticism of the previous administration’s motives
