The recently dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has spoken out for the first time since his removal, urging residents to uphold peace and trust in the legal process to deliver justice. Bayero addressed the public on Saturday from his temporary residence after returning to Kano.

Speaking in his native language, Bayero emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order. “I call on the people to remain law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of the legal process in this tussle. Justice is the way to go on every issue. There will be justice. Nobody is above the law,” he stated.

The former emir, who has been at the center of a high-profile emirate tussle, expressed his faith in the judiciary and the importance of Kano in the national context. “Kano is a very influential state in Nigeria. Whatever affects Kano affects Nigeria. May peace reign in Kano. We pray for Allah to bless Kano with responsible and just leaders,” he added.

Bayero’s call for calm and adherence to the rule of law comes amid heightened tensions in the state following his dethronement. He assured his followers that he would respect the legal outcomes and continue to pray for the state’s peace and prosperity.

The deposed monarch’s return to the ancient city early Saturday morning was met with significant attention, as his future and the stability of Kano remain subjects of national interest.
