BREAKING: Sanusi defies court order, ascends Kano throne as Emir
Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, has taken his place on the throne, receiving royal greetings despite a court order against his reinstatement. A joint security agency in Kano State had declared they were upholding this court order.
Sanusi, emerging from the Emir’s inner palace to the outer palace where traditional court sittings occur, was greeted by hundreds of cheering supporters as he rode majestically on a horse.
State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo told reporters that no one could change their position on Sanusi’s reinstatement, asserting it was done legally. He noted that the court order banning Sanusi’s reinstatement was not officially submitted and was issued after working hours, making it effectively too late.
