Tinubu, UN, AU, Arab leaders mourn Iranian President Raisi’s death
President Bola Tinubu has joined leaders worldwide, Arab states, the United Nations, and the African Union in extending condolences to Iran after a tragic helicopter crash claimed the lives of President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials.
Expressing deep sorrow, President Tinubu highlighted President Raisi’s commitment to Iran’s progress. He prayed for Iran’s peace, stability, and prosperity and assured them of Nigeria’s support.
Arab nations, including Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, as well as the African Union, offered sympathies. The UN, Russia, China, and various regional powers also expressed condolences. The U.S. acknowledged the incident but pointed out President Raisi’s controversial legacy.
