Obidients mobilize, prepares harmonization committee ahead of 2027 elections
In a strategic move geared towards solidifying their achievements and positioning for a robust presence in the forthcoming 2027 presidential elections, backers of former Anambra governor, Peter Obi, known as the “Obidient movement,” have established a harmonization committee. This committee’s aim is to foster peace, unity, and reconciliation among citizens.
Formally inaugurated over the weekend in Abuja, the nation’s capital, the committee boasts representatives from all six geopolitical zones of the country, ensuring a broad national outreach.
Comprising individuals from diverse backgrounds and regions, the committee brings a rich tapestry of perspectives and experiences to its mandate.
Chairing the committee, Comrade Joseph Enan Maigari underscored the significance of its mission, noting Nigeria’s wounded state due to past and present leadership failures. He stressed the delicate nature of the committee’s task, recognizing its profound implications for the nation’s future.
Maigari highlighted the imperative of forgiveness and healing, asserting that the committee’s efforts extend beyond its members to encompass all Nigerians. He called for nationwide support, emphasizing that the country’s freedom and justice hinge upon it.
Maigari articulated, “We, as a people, bear scars from the failures of leadership, spanning generations. Our journey toward healing demands forgiveness, including forgiving ourselves. Only then can we confront the oppressors who have hindered our nation’s progress since independence.
“This task entrusted to us is weighty, with repercussions that will reverberate for years to come. We embark on a collective journey of healing, grounded in truth and contrition. Yet, it is also deeply personal and spiritual. Hence, I implore every Nigerian – this endeavor is not solely for the committee; it is our collective responsibility, transcending religious, regional, and ethnic divides.
“Our nation’s miracle must endure. Freedom and justice must not remain elusive ideals but tangible realities for every citizen. We are privileged to contribute to the healing process, bridging past divisions to forge a united present and a promising future.”
