Drake loses $565,000 after betting on Tyson Fury to beat Usyk
Canadian hip-hop artist Drake faced another significant setback in his gambling ventures, losing a substantial sum of $565,000 by betting on Tyson Fury to triumph over Oleksandr Usyk.
Drake openly disclosed his hefty wager on Fury’s victory via Instagram before the bout, expressing hopes of claiming a payout exceeding $1 million had Fury emerged victorious.
However, the outcome took an unexpected turn as Usyk secured a split decision victory over Fury in Saudi Arabia, clinching the distinction of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion in 24 years. This victory added Fury’s WBC title to Usyk’s existing WBA, IBF, and WBO belts.
This loss marks another instance of Drake facing significant financial repercussions from his gambling pursuits. Previously, he suffered a six-figure loss following Anthony Joshua’s knockout victory over Francis Ngannou, and incurred another substantial setback of $700,000 when Dricus Du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
