Renowned Nollywood luminary Kanayo O. Kanayo, who recently introduced his son Clinton Mbaise to the realm of filmmaking, chose to uphold African customs by bestowing paternal blessings upon him alongside accepting his inaugural paycheck for his on-set endeavors.

Kanayo underscored the pivotal role of ancestral customs in fostering the advancement of many within the nation. Clinton, having completed his maiden foray into movie production alongside his father, received a payment of N50,000.

In a video disseminated on Kanayo’s Instagram account, he jovially requested a nominal sum of N500 from his son’s earnings, invoking prayers for Clinton’s flourishing career within the industry.

The Nollywood stalwart imparted wisdom to Nigerians, advocating for the tradition of presenting one’s first earnings to their father for blessings, rather than bestowing them upon pastors. He stressed the unique ability of a father to confer blessings upon their offspring.

Kanayo articulated, “I wish to uphold a tradition passed down from our forebears, one that has propelled many individuals to success: the father’s blessing. Clinton, my son, has recently concluded his stint in production management with us and has garnered his maiden remuneration—an initial sum of N50,000 for his cinematic endeavors.”

He further elucidated, “In this rite of passage, the young man, upon receiving his first salary, presents a portion to his father—a gesture symbolic of respect and gratitude. The father may choose to retain the entire sum or offer guidance on its prudent management. This exchange fosters not only familial bonds but also imparts crucial lessons in financial stewardship.”

Kanayo admonished those who divert their earnings to pastors, emphasizing the cultural sanctity of seeking paternal blessings in financial matters.
