Fubara not willing to reconcile with Wike – Ex-Rivers commissioner, Adangor

In a startling revelation on Channels Television’s flagship program “Politics Today,” former Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor, unleashed a flurry of accusations against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, painting a picture of deepening animosity rather than reconciliation with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Adangor, a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria, didn’t mince words as he alleged that Governor Fubara’s purported role as a peacemaker was a facade, asserting, “He is not the person people think he is.”

The crux of the discord, as disclosed by Adangor, revolves around Governor Fubara’s alleged reluctance to embrace the spirit of the Presidential Peace Pact brokered by President Bola Tinubu to quell the feud between him and Wike. Adangor’s departure from Fubara’s cabinet in April stemmed from his refusal to comply with directives to challenge the validity of the Peace Pact, he claimed.

The saga, according to Adangor, traces back to December 18, 2023, post the Peace Pact, where Fubara unilaterally redeployed him from the justice ministry to Special Duties without prior consultation. Adangor’s steadfast commitment to the rule of law clashed with Fubara’s approach, leading to his resignation.

In a candid reflection on his allegiance, Adangor affirmed his loyalty to Wike, a stance that seemingly irked Fubara. He elaborated, “Politically, I am loyal to Wike, there is no doubt about that. I wouldn’t know whether he was angered by that or not.”

Furthermore, Adangor highlighted instances where Fubara’s actions allegedly contradicted his public image. He cited Fubara’s purported directive to bar his return to Rivers State University and the withholding of approval for a customary court in Adangor’s local community as vindictive measures.

The interview peeled back layers of political intrigue, portraying a landscape rife with tensions and personal vendettas, rather than a path towards reconciliation. As Adangor’s revelations reverberate across the political spectrum, the spotlight intensifies on Governor Fubara’s leadership style and the simmering rift within Rivers State politics.
