In a dramatic interception along the Yauri-Jega road, the joint border patrol team, led by Kebbi State Comptroller of Customs, Mr. Ernest Iheanacho, thwarted a potentially catastrophic incident.

Their intelligence-based patrol led to the seizure of 6,250 sacks of dynamite explosives concealed in a canter vehicle with registration number Zur 882 ZY. The driver, Abdullahi Aliyu, was swiftly apprehended, preventing the intended transfer to Alhaji Mustapha Garba Jega.

Upon inspection by the patrol team’s intelligence units, the hazardous nature of the cargo was confirmed, prompting immediate action. Even a Haojue motorcycle was implicated in connection with the explosives.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Customs Command made the decision to hand over the explosives to the Department of Security Services (DSS) for safekeeping.

Mr. Tony Oduwalu, representing the state director of DSS, lauded the seamless collaboration between agencies, emphasizing the importance of such partnerships in maintaining security. He urged Customs to continue fostering this cooperation, stressing that success requires collective effort.

In a formal ceremony, the handover documents were signed, symbolizing the transfer of responsibility. “I hand over these explosives to you on behalf of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs,” declared Mr. Iheanacho, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region.
