EFCC: Yahaya Bello to Face N80bn Fraud Charges via Legal Rep
The Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Emeka Nwite has taken decisive action against former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, in a staggering N80 billion fraud case.
Defying Bello’s absence, Justice Nwite mandated that charges be served through his lawyer, Abdulwahab Mohammed, following repeated court no-shows.
Lead counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kemi Pinheiro, spearheaded the push for substituted service, compelling Bello’s legal team to accept the charges. Despite initial resistance, Justice Nwite stood firm, rejecting requests for a junior lawyer to step in.
With the EFCC issuing a bench warrant for Bello’s arrest due to his persistent evasion, tensions mount in this riveting legal saga.
