Bobrisky Challenges Verdict: Appeals Against Sentence

Controversial internet sensation Bobrisky, famed for his flamboyant persona, is taking legal action against what he deems an unjust ruling. After being handed a six-month sentence by a Lagos court for alleged naira abuse, Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, is not backing down.
The self-proclaimed social media influencer was found guilty of four counts related to mishandling the national currency. However, Bobrisky’s legal team swiftly filed a notice of appeal, contesting the severity of the sentence.
In a bold move, Bobrisky’s lawyer, Mr. Bimbo Kusanu, argues that the punishment is disproportionate, considering his client’s lack of prior convictions and cooperation with authorities. Kusanu is urging the Court of Appeal to reconsider the ruling, proposing a nominal fine instead.
Citing provisions under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, the defense contends that the trial court failed to take into account Bobrisky’s positive contributions and timely admission of guilt. They assert that the harsh sentence constitutes a miscarriage of justice and is out of step with legal precedents.
