The Federal Government has given the green light for an additional public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid -El-Fitr. The announcement came through a statement from Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the esteemed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, injecting a wave of joy into the Muslim community.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Honourable Minister of Interior, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of a month filled with spiritual rejuvenation. Notably, he echoed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) unwavering commitment to nurturing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all its citizens.

Initially slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations were extended due to the non-sighting of the crescent moon on Monday. This decision aligns with the declarations made by Saudi Arabia and the revered Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, who proclaimed Wednesday, April 10, as Eid el-Fitr.

As families and communities gear up for the festivities, the addition of Thursday as a holiday promises an extended period of joyous gatherings, heartfelt prayers, and cherished moments of togetherness.
