In a recent candid interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by the witty skit maker Bae U Barbie, the maverick singer Brymo, born Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, didn’t hold back his opinions about his colleague Burna Boy’s musical talent.

Brymo, known for his uncompromising artistic vision, made waves with his bold assertion that Burna Boy simply doesn’t measure up to his musical standard. Reacting to Burna Boy’s diss freestyle aimed at him, Brymo retorted, “Is it not Burna Boy’s lyrics? But he would like to know that nothing in this world would put his name in my song. He no reach my standard.”

The assertion didn’t stop there. Brymo boldly declared himself as the “finest vocalist” in Africa. “I’m not proud enough. I’m probably the finest vocalist on the continent. Better than anybody. I’m not thinking. I know this,” he confidently stated.

Despite the potential for controversy, Brymo remained unfazed. “And yeah, even Twitter guys can’t disagree with him despite the hate. You can win an Award, but that doesn’t mean you’re the best man for that award,” he added, indicating a staunch belief in his own musical prowess.

This exchange between the two artists has a history, with Burna Boy dissing Brymo during a freestyle with his band last October, following Brymo’s accusations of song theft. Brymo alleged that Burna Boy’s tracks ‘City Boys’ and ‘I Told Them’ sampled the title track of his upcoming album, ‘Macabre’.

With both artists standing firm in their convictions, it seems this musical rivalry is far from over, leaving fans and critics alike eager to see what the future holds for these two titans of Nigerian music.
