FG Pins Down 15 Suspected Terrorism Financiers, Considers Imposing Severe Sanctions

The Federal Government of Nigeria has designated 15 entities suspected of financing terrorism in the country.

This includes nine individuals and six Bureau De Change operators and firms. The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) released a report titled “Identification of Persons and Organizations as of March 18, 2024,” detailing these designations.

Notable mentions include Tukur Mamu, a Kaduna-based publisher undergoing trial for allegedly supporting terrorists involved in the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.

Additionally, individuals associated with various terrorist groups, such as ISWAP and Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladissudam, have been identified. These designations aim to curb terrorism financing and enhance national security efforts.
