NCC Restores Voice and Data Services After Cable Cuts Chaos

In a much-needed relief for Nigerian telecom users, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has declared victory over disruptions caused by recent cable cuts. Dr. Reuben Muoka, the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, announced the triumphant return of voice and data services in a statement released on Monday from Abuja.

The disruption, stemming from cuts in undersea fiber optics off the coasts of Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal on March 14, had left users grappling with connectivity issues. However, Muoka revealed that diligent efforts have paid off, with services now restored to nearly 90% of their peak utilization capacities.

Muoka highlighted the collaborative efforts of impacted operators, who swiftly tapped into recovery capacity from unaffected submarine cables. With mobile network operators (MNOs) vowing to ensure optimal performance until full repairs are completed, it seems smoother seas are ahead for Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape.
