Global Mobile Spending Hits $171 Billion in 2023, Breaking Records!

A new report from data.ai’s State of Mobile 2024 reveals a staggering $171 billion spent by mobile users across the App Store, Google Play, and third-party Android app stores last year. Notably, app downloads showed a resilient three per cent increase compared to 2022, reaching a monumental 257 billion, with social apps, particularly TikTok, leading the charge.

The report highlights a paradigm shift in consumer behavior, as users embrace in-app transactions, propelling TikTok to the forefront as the unparalleled app monetizer. Furthermore, the AI craze took center stage, with over 4,000 apps strategically incorporating terms like ‘chatbot’ and ‘gpt’ in their descriptions, demonstrating a significant shift towards AI-powered applications. The rise of AI features led to an impressive 11 per cent year-over-year growth in downloads, marking 2023 as the year when mobile users embraced the AI revolution.”
