Katsina: Village Head, Son, and Several Others Brutally Killed in Latest Attack
In a shocking and brutal attack, notorious bandits have invaded the peaceful town of Kukar Babangida in Katsina state, leaving a trail of devastation. The village head, Magaji Haruna, and his son were mercilessly killed, along with eight other innocent residents.
Under the cover of darkness, the bandits struck around 10 pm on Wednesday, catching the community off guard. A resident, speaking anonymously, disclosed that the attackers ruthlessly slaughtered three people, including the village head’s son, Idris Haruna. Two watchmen from Tinna Tech company were also brutally attacked, with one being slaughtered and the other shot.
The bandits, displaying brazen audacity, set ablaze two trucks belonging to Tinna Tech and another gulf car. Additionally, an unspecified number of women were reportedly abducted during the heinous assault.
Disturbingly, the attack was allegedly foreseen, with security forces receiving alerts around 5 pm the same day. Despite assurances of adequate security reinforcements, the bandits operated unhindered for several hours, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Residents suspect the involvement of two notorious bandit kingpins operating in and around Jibia local government area. This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of an attack on travellers from Yangayya community just two weeks ago, where nine lives were lost.
Accusations have been leveled at the newly formed community watch corps, with residents claiming that those managing the distribution of cartridges meant for protection are diverting them for personal gain.
In the face of this escalating crisis, the residents urgently call upon the Katsina state government to investigate and take decisive action to safeguard the community from further bandit onslaughts.
When reached for comment, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the police spokesman in Katsina, confirmed the incident, revealing that nine lives were tragically lost. However, details remain sketchy, and he pledged to provide more information as it becomes available. The community now waits anxiously for justice and increased security measures to prevent future atrocities.
