Two robbery suspects captured in Kano
The Jigawa State Police Command recently apprehended two suspected armed robbers from their wanted list. ASP Abubakar Isah, the Assistant Public Relations Officer, announced their arrest in a statement released in Dutse, the state capital, on Saturday.
These individuals, identified as Yusuf Yusuf, 25, residing in Katoge quarters, Kazaure Local Government Area, and Umar Abubakar, 23, hailing from Dakayyawa village, Kaugama LGA, were tracked down and captured on December 12, 2023, in Kano State.
According to ASP Isah, the arrest was linked to a July 19, 2023 incident when a group of about five armed individuals invaded the residence of Sunusi Hudu in G9 quarters, Dutse LGA. The assailants assaulted Hudu and looted items including a black 2011 Honda Accord, two plasma televisions, an HP Laptop, and a Redmi Note 11pro phone.
Fortunately, following a lead from the investigative team of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse, Umar Abubakar, Yakubu Mohammed, and Zakariyya Dahiru, residents of Bompai Miller Road in Kano State and Yalleman town in Kaugama LGA respectively, were apprehended on October 18, 2023, in connection with the crime. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed their involvement.
The police spokesperson emphasized that after a thorough investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse, all the apprehended suspects will face legal proceedings in court.
